Can’t find a settings option on your iPhone or iPad? Apple makes it easy to search in Settings to find what you need. It’s such a small feature that you can miss it if you don’t know it exists. Here’s how to use it.
To find the search box, open the Settings app and swipe down from the Home screen. You will see a search bar that appears at the top of the screen.
Type what you’re looking for in the search bar using the on-screen keyboard. Potential matches will appear in a list below.
When you find what you’re looking for in the list, tap it and you’ll be immediately directed to the appropriate settings screen.
From there, you can return to the main settings screen to search again or just return to your normal activity.
You can also search for settings without opening the settings application via search reflectors. For example, if you’re looking for VPN settings, you can swipe to Spotlight search on the home screen and search for «VPN.» You’ll see the VPN settings panel appear in the results list and you can open it with a single tap.
