If you create a presentation in Google Presentations, you can choose to include external images. Google Presentations lets you crop, change color, and add effects such as shadows and reflections with its built-in photo editor. In this way.
Crop images in Google Presentations
While you are more than welcome to continue cropping images in Photoshop Or, in an alternative photo editor, you can make this image editing easier on Google Slides. First, you will need to open the file presentation of Google Slides On your computer.
If you haven’t inserted an image yet, you can do so by clicking Insert> Images. From there, you can choose to upload an image from your computer, Google Drive or Google Photos, or search and paste an image from the web.
Once your image is in place, right-click on the photo and click «Crop the image» to start trimming.
You can also switch to cropping images by double-clicking the image.
An additional border cut menu will appear around your image, allowing you to select the areas you want to remove.
Using the mouse or trackpad, select the parts of the image you want to keep. Anything outside the gray border will be removed.
Once you’re happy with the cropped image, click once outside the image area. Google Slides will apply automatic image cropping.
Change the color of images in Google Presentations
The Google Presentations Color Changer tool lets you change the colors of an inserted image by applying one of several color filters. These include a sepia mode to give your image an older feel, as well as a black and white filter to completely remove color.
To get started, right-click on the image and select «Formatting options» to access the image format menu.
You can also access this by clicking Format> Formatting Options in the menu bar.
This will display the image formatting options on the right. Click the subcategory «Change the color» to start changing the color of the image.
By default, the drop-down menu will be set to optional «Do not recolor». Click the drop-down menu, and then select one of the visual filters to apply to your image.
The image filter you apply will change the color of your image to match the preview thumbnail displayed in the drop-down menu.
Adjust image brightness, contrast, and transparency in Google Presentations
If you need to touch the brightness or contrast of the image or reduce transparency to give it a blurry feel, you can do so from the image format menu in Google Presentations.
Right-click on the image and select «Formatting options» or click Format> Format Options from the menu bar. Click the subcategory «settings» to access the image’s brightness, contrast, and transparency levels.
The image of Queen Elizabeth II presented above has a zero level of transparency. Brightness and contrast levels are also set to zero, with the ability to reduce those settings above and below zero (using the original image settings as default).
To change this setting, move the sliders for each option with your mouse or trackpad. Move the slider to the left to reduce the effect of that option, or move it to the right to enlarge it.
The settings are applied automatically. Once you’re happy with them, click outside the image area or select «Restore» to return the image to its original state.
Add effects to images in Google Presentations
The Google Presentations image format menu includes two additional effects that you can apply to your image: reflection and shadow.
Click Format> Format Options, or right-click the image and click «Formatting options» to access the image format menu.
Add a shadow effect
In the menu «Formatting options», click the drop-down arrow to enter the subcategory «The Shadow».
This will automatically activate the checkbox next to it «The Shadow» and apply the effect of your image. Options for changing the shadow effect will appear below.
You can change the color of the shadow, how much you want it to expand and at what angle, how blurred you would like the level of transparency applied to it to be.
Using the mouse or trackpad, move the sliders left or right to adjust the levels for each of these options. Use the drop-down menu to select the shade color.
Any changes you make will be automatically applied to your image.
Click the checkbox next to the category name «The Shadow» to remove the effect at any time.
Add an image mirroring effect
Subcategory «Reflection» in the menu «Formatting options» allows you to add a reflection effect under your image. When you open the subcategory, by default, the checkbox next to the name will be activated, applying the effect.
You can change the effect even more, with options to change the transparency, distance and size of the reflection using the sliders provided.
Using the mouse, move the slider for each option left or right to reduce or increase the effect.
Changes to the reflection effect will be applied automatically. To remove the effect, click the checkbox next to the subcategory name «Reflection».
