Sometimes when you try to download a file from the Internet, Internet Explorer or Browser Edge , you can prevent it from downloading. This is SmartScreen filter in action, trying to protect you. SmartScreen also provides protection against phishing attacks, social engineering malware and drive-per-download attacks.
If you do not want to use this feature, or if you find that the SmartScreen feature is turned off, this message will show you how to turn the SmartScreen filter on or off. It’s a great feature to keep your computer safe and it’s best to always keep it running.

Quickly bypass the SmartScreen filter
But sometimes when you download a file from the internet using Internet Explorer , the SmartScreen filter will prevent you from downloading or opening it. Now, if you are pretty sure that the file and source you are downloading are safe, you may want to quickly bypass the SmartScreen filter without going through the detailed process of turning the SmartScreen off or off.
Usually, when you click a link to download a file, you are asked – Do you want to save the file from the site? Normally, you would click Keep to save the download to the Downloads folder.
But sometimes when you click Save to download it, you may see a message – The file is not safe to download and has been blocked by the SmartScreen filter .

Now, as I mentioned, if you are very sure that the file and source you are downloading are safe, you can quickly bypass the SmartScreen filter as follows:
Click the button See downloads to open the View Downloads window. By clicking choice It will only allow you to change the download directory, so it is of no use to us.
All you have to do is right-click on the blocked download. This will open a context menu that will give you various options.
Select the one who says Download the unsafe file . The download will begin. If you wish, you can also report that this file is secure.
The procedure is the same for Browser Edge .
